Hadith on fasting on the day of Arafah
Arafah (9th Zul-Hijjah).

Regarding this day Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) is reported to have said: “I have hope in Allah Ta’ala that the fast of the day of Arafah will be an atonement for the (minor) sins of the past and forthcoming year” (Tirmizi).

Herkes gibi biz de gittik; Susanların arasına girdik…
Biz gittik,kalanlar sağ olsun;
doğan mutlaka ölür.
Gök kubbede oturanlar,
damdan düşmeyen bir taşı görmemişlerdir asla.
O kadar konuşmayın, o kadar yorulmayın;
Şu yerin altında çırak ne olmuşsa,usta da olmuştur.
A güzel nazlanma!
Bu mezarda nice şirinler, Ferhat gibi yok olmuş gitmiştir.
Direği yelden olan yapı, ne kadar dayanabilir ki?
Kötüysek,kötülüğümüzle geçip gittik;
İyi idiysek anın bizi hayırla!
Zamanın tek eri bile olsa bile,
Tek tek gidenler gibi sende gidersin bir gün.
Yalnız kalmayı istemiyorsan,
hayırdan,iyilikten evladın olsun.
O gizlilik deminin bükülmüş ipliğidir kalan;
dünya ya direk olanların canıdır o.
O süzülmüş,seçilmiş aşk cevheri yok mu ;
ölümsüz olarak kalan, o dur ancak.
Şu akıp giden kum selinin ne durması vardır ne dinlenmesi;
bir şekil bozuldu mu, başka bir şeklin temelini atarlar.
Bu kupkuru yerde Nuh’un gemisine benziyorum ben;
tufan da vademin gelip çatması.
Nuh’un gemisi de gayb aleminde,
pusudaki dalgaları bekliyordu hani!
Susanların arasına girdik,yattık uyuduk;
Çünkü sesimiz,feryadımız haddi aşmıştı zaten.

Şeb-i Arûs

Every year in December, ceremonies are held in Konya, Turkey for "Şeb-i Arûs". They Celebrate Jelaleddin Rumi the great 13th century, founder of the mevlevi Dervish order. Mevlana (1207-1273) is among Islam's greatest poets and mystic philosophers. His passionate poets addressed to beloved Allah...

Mevlana is originally from Afghanistan but worked and lived in Konya. This month Konya in selcuk would be packed with people visiting and celebrating rumis birth, visiting his museum and at the evening watch the Whirling dervish. rumis death is considered as his wedding night, the night he departed this eartly life and was finally united in love with the devine.

Come, Come, Whoever you are
Our is not a caravan of despair
Come, Come, Whoever you are
This caravan has no despair.
Even though you have broken your vow
perhaps ten thousand times
Yet come again, come again, whoever you are
whoever you are, come
Wander, worshipper, lover of leaving, come
Wander, worshipper, lover of leaving, come

Jelaleddin Rumi

Muslims mystics
Time to time I will post quotations or poems from some of the most known mystic and spiritual teachers in Islam. Ibn Arabi is one of these mystics,who is accepted as being one of the greatest spiritual teachers, not just for the Muslims but the whole world. He is known as the Shakh al-Akbar (greatest master). More will follow on this subject.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Wonder,
A garden among the flames!

My heart can take on any form:
A meadow for gazelles,
A cloister for monks,
For the idols, sacred ground,
Ka'ba for the circling pilgrim,
The tables of the Torah,
The scrolls of the Quran.

My creed is Love;
Wherever its caravan turns along the way,
That is my belief,
My faith.

- Ibn Arabi

Which t-shirt would you wear???
With the growing problem of Islamophobia in the UK, Muslims have turned to some funny but meaningful measures. T-shirts with very interesting messages are being worn by Muslims and also Sikhs who have been mistaken to be Muslim. Here are the examples.

“Don’t panic I am not Islamic”

“I read the Quran, don’t mean you no harm”

“Muslim on the road, Don’t worry I won’t explode”

“Don’t freak, I am a Sikh”

On the other hand, far right racists have also been printing some t-shirts with extreme messages. T-shirts emblazoned with anti-Muslim slurs are already been circulated. One of these T-shirts reads

"Islamophobic And Proud Of It"...

a little about Mustafa Duzgunman

He is one of my favorite ebru artist born in Uskudar, Istanbul in 1920. When he completed his primary education he started helping his dad Abdulbaki efendi at his herbal shop in uskudar. He carried on his further education at the Department of Turkish Decorative Arts of the State Academy of Fine Arts in 1938.
At the Academy, he learnt traditional bookbinding and ebru from Necmeddin Okyay and benefitted from other masters and distinguished with his talents in a very short time. He never wanted to change ebru into modern art because he believed ebru should stay as a traditional way. Some of his marblings are shown in prayer beads caligraphies He is well known with his works. He was also interested in taking pictures of caligraphy. He is also a poet and one of the poem he wrote is about ebru called Ebruname which i will post very soon...
Mustafa Duzgunman who died on the 12th of September 1990 has been buried in Karacaahmet Cemetery in Uskudar, Istanbul.
