Şeb-i Arûs

Every year in December, ceremonies are held in Konya, Turkey for "Şeb-i Arûs". They Celebrate Jelaleddin Rumi the great 13th century, founder of the mevlevi Dervish order. Mevlana (1207-1273) is among Islam's greatest poets and mystic philosophers. His passionate poets addressed to beloved Allah...

Mevlana is originally from Afghanistan but worked and lived in Konya. This month Konya in selcuk would be packed with people visiting and celebrating rumis birth, visiting his museum and at the evening watch the Whirling dervish. rumis death is considered as his wedding night, the night he departed this eartly life and was finally united in love with the devine.

Come, Come, Whoever you are
Our is not a caravan of despair
Come, Come, Whoever you are
This caravan has no despair.
Even though you have broken your vow
perhaps ten thousand times
Yet come again, come again, whoever you are
whoever you are, come
Wander, worshipper, lover of leaving, come
Wander, worshipper, lover of leaving, come

Jelaleddin Rumi
